Pad See Ew

We’re really in-love with Thai food. In addition with the Pad Thai, another comfort food that  is not so difficult to make is the Pad See Ew. Enjoy!

1         tablespoon    sugar
1/2      cup    pork, thinly sliced
2         tablespoons    light soy sauce
2         cloves    garlic, chopped
1         lb    fresh flat rice noodles
1         egg
1         tablespoon    dark soy sauce
1         lb    broccoli

Cut flat rice noodles into strips of 3/4 inch wide. Cut broccoli into 2 inch long pieces. Halve the stems lengthwise because thick stems take longer to cook. You are going to want to cook them at the same time.

Heat a wok to high heat and then add 2 tablespoons of oil. Drop in the chopped garlic and stir. Add the sliced pork. Stir to cook the pork. When the pork is somewhat cooked or turned from pink to light brown, add rice noodles. Stir to break up the noodles. Add light and dark soy sauce and sugar.

Stir to mix the seasonings into the noodles and pork. Open a spot in the middle of the pan, and drop the egg in. Scramble the egg until it is almost all cooked. Fold in the noodles and mix them all. Add half of the broccoli and stir until it wilts and then add the rest. As soon as the broccoli is cooked, turn off the heat.

Put on a serving plate and sprinkle white pepper on top. Serve with the usual noodles condiments; sugar, fish sauce, vinegar and dried ground pepper.

If you’re a vegetarian, you can replace the pork with a firm tofu. I like mine with both pork and tofu. :)

Honey’s Favorite Salpicao

This one is my Honey’s favorite amongst my collection of dishes :)

3/4 kilo of terderloin, pork or beef (cut into strips)

About half head garlic (minced)

Olive oil and butter

Button mushrooms (sliced)

Worcestershire sauce (about a cup, just eyeball it depends on the your brand and your taste)

Green and Red bell pepper (julienned)

Here’s what you do:

Marinate the tenderloin strips into the Worcestershire sauce for an hour and a half. Add a little dash of salt and pepper for taste.

Put in olive oil in pan then melt in the butter. Saute the garlic until golden brown. Then add in the marinated pork and  mushroom. Simmer for 15 minutes or just until the pork is tender but do not overcook the meat.

Serve it with a sizzling plate, if you have, then top it up with some more browned garlic and bell peppers.

Best served with garlic or plain rice. :)
